To further deepen relations between the city of Zibo in East China's Shandong province and the city of Batumi in southwest Georgia, a meeting was held via video link on Nov 16.
Lu Yutian, director of the Zibo Municipal Foreign Affairs Office and chairman of the Zibo People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Gela Bolkvadze, director of the Batumi International Relations Department, and other officials attended the meeting.
During the meeting, officials discussed the economy, trade, investment, scientific and technological innovation, culture, tourism, education and medical care, reaching consensus on further deepening cooperation between the two cities.
In the future, Zibo will continue to strengthen contact with Batumi and plans to carry out cooperation in new energy, culture and tourism to improve their relations.

Zibo has been in contact with Batumi since 1995 and established sister-city relations in 1998. With an area of 64.9 square kilometers in southwest Georgia, Batumi is the second largest city in the country with a population of about 172,000 in 2021.
