2024-08-17

Organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the HKTDC Food Expo kicked off at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center on Aug 15.

The Shandong pavilion, spanning 120 square meters, featured eight thematic zones. Over 100 agricultural enterprises from 16 cities in Shandong showcased a diverse range of 332 products at the event, including pre-cooked meals, beverages, fruits, vegetables, tea, and processed foods.

This year, Shandong highlighted intangible cultural heritage products and food items with medicinal properties for the first time. The inclusion of these unique products not only showcased Shandong's rich cultural heritage but also demonstrated the province's commitment to innovation in the food industry.

Shandong's renowned products, including Pingyin rose derivatives, Linqu foie gras, and Dong'e Ejiao, attracted significant attention from buyers.

Pingyin roses are a traditional Chinese rose and specialty of Pingyin county in Jinan, Shandong, known for their large with thick petals, bright colors, and strong fragrance.

Dong'e Ejiao, a traditional Chinese medicine made from donkey hide, traces its origins to Dong'e county in Liaocheng, Shandong.

This the fifth year in a row that Shandong has participated in the HKTDC Food Expo. This annual showcase has provided the province with valuable opportunities to expand its agricultural exports. In the first half of 2024 alone, Shandong's agricultural trade with Hong Kong reached 1.01 billion yuan ($139 million).
